Making healthcare better, together
NHS Lothian Charity (formerly Edinburgh & Lothians Health Foundation) is the official charity of NHS Lothian. In partnership with Ave Design, we helped rename, rebrand, and relaunch their digital identity.
Challenge
The organisation wanted to evolve beyond being perceived as a funding foundation, repositioning itself as a people-centred charity that improves healthcare experiences across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Their new brand needed to communicate warmth, accessibility, and alignment with NHS values.
Solution
Following stakeholder research and naming workshops, we created a full brand identity and WordPress website using ACF and the block editor. The design system unified multiple sub-brands under a single visual language, with a tone of voice centred on compassion and collaboration. Accessibility and WCAG compliance were baked in from the start.
Outcome
The rebrand and site launch repositioned NHS Lothian Charity as a vibrant, people-first organisation – accessible, inclusive, and emotionally engaging, enabling stronger community connection and fundraising impact.
